DETAILS
One of the most successful and long-lived BR ‘Pilot Scheme’ designs; the initial 20 locomotives were followed by 26 more (Class 26/1) and all were concen? trated on the Scottish Region from the 1960s. Used on everything from heavy sleeping car trains to local goods trips, the ’26s’ proved to be reliable, robust and versatile.
